ExWHUemployee: Premier League clubs enquiring about Issap Diop
Premier League clubs and some of their counterparts abroad have started to approach West Ham with enquiries for Issa Diop, according to ExWHUemployee.
With a move for Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma edging towards completion, the 24-year-old Frenchman could find himself completely out of favour and further struggle for playing chances if his compatriot arrives at the London Stadium.
Some clubs reckon Diop could be open to leaving the Hammers and they are monitoring the situation of things.
Writing on the West Ham Way Patreon while providing the latest on Zouma, Ex said: “Ironically clubs have started to enquire about Diop including some Premier League ones as well.”
Dilemma
Diop has struggled to establish himself as a regular under David Moyes, with Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson firmly ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Irons boss even deployed Fabian Balbuena ahead of him for some games last term, and the arrival of the Chelsea star could be the last straw for his West Ham future.
The Frenchman would find himself playing second fiddle to three centre-backs again, and he could be open to leaving.
Clearly, he is not short of options, and should a Premier League club guarantee him regular playing time, joining them would be very appealing.
Moyes needs quality depth at the back, though, and having Diop available makes a lot of sense.
Ideally, at least four centre-backs are needed for a club looking to mount strong challenges in four competitions.
A significant offer could force the Hammers hands, though, and the player could look to force an exit if he finds a deal appealing.
