ExWHUEmployee: Phil Jones will appeal to David Moyes
West Ham signing Manchester United defender Phil Jones will be an appealing option to David Moyes, claims ExWHUEmployee.
However, the 29-year-old’s injury record is a major factor that could put Moyes off as he’s keen on signing a quality central defender this summer.
Recently, 90Min reported that the Manchester outfit were open to parting ways with the England international and West Ham were keeping tabs on the situation surrounding his exit.

Discussing this report on his Patreon page for The West Ham Way Podcast, the reliable Hammers insider wrote, “This is a move that will surely appeal to David Moyes.
“He is a big fan of the England international from his time managing Manchester United and has made precious enquiries to the player’s availability before, whilst managing us.
“A major concern is his injury record and he hasn’t really featured for nearly two years now so this could be a factor that puts Moyes off. We shall see if Moyes reignites his interest in the coming weeks.”
Must steer clear
We can understand why it would appeal to Moyes, given his time spent at Old Trafford with the English defender, but this is a move we must avoid at all costs.
Jones has been injury prone for the past few years and even when he’s been fit he’s appeared to be shaky and someone who’s got a mistake in him.

His positional awareness is something that’s cost his team points on a number of occasions and it’s not like he’s the only defender available in the market this summer.
We need a towering presence and a leader at the back – one who’s good at defending as well as getting the ball out of defence.
The Manchester United defender may be a decent ball player, but he’s still got plenty to improve on the defensive side of things, and we must avoid getting into negotiations with him.
