ExWHUemployee: No surprise if Santiago Ascacibar agents have made contact with West Ham United
ExWHUemployee has shared that it would be no surprise if the agents of Hertha Berlin midfielder Santiago Ascacibar have been in contact with West Ham United.
The Argentine is said to be a long-term target at the London Stadium, with David Moyes still in the market for another central midfielder despite the arrival of Flynn Downes.
It is reported that Ascacibar could be available for around £10million with a move that could well be on the cards, although a more attacking option could be targeted instead.

Writing on the official West Ham Way Patreon page [08 July], Ex shared what could happen as Moyes is said to be on the lookout for another midfielder.
“That said the club is still looking for another central midfielder and there have been rumours of a move for Santiago Ascacíbar, an Argentine midfield who plays for Herta Berlin in Germany.
“The international is a player who we have admired for a long time and someone who I reported interest in about three years ago.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if agents have been in touch with the club and he is said to be available for around £10m.”

Agents fishing?
We have seen it all before, as soon as the window opens, agents come to life.
This could be the case with Ascacibar, who may want to move on but doesn’t have clubs exactly lining up to take him immediately as soon as transfer season kicked on.
£10million could be a steal for someone who has been watched at the London Stadium for three years now, so it would be no surprise to see this one happen.
A deal for the Argentine could have cost a lot more all those years ago, but with his time in Germany seemingly coming to an end quickly, it could be down to West Ham United to make that happen.
Downes’ arrival means that Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have plenty of competition, but it is clear that is an area that Moyes wants even more depth.
With a new striker also wanted, it will be interesting to see what the next priority is at the London Stadium.
