ExWHUemployee: Jesse Lingard remains ‘top target’ for West Ham and David Moyes in January

Manchester United playmaker Jesse Lingard remains a “top target” for David Moyes at West Ham United this month.

That’s according to ExWHUemployee, who insists nothing has changed despite contrasting reports elsewhere before the window opened.

It is suggested that the key factors are the Irons placing an acceptable offer, and being able to actually persuade Lingard to make the move again.

Writing in his latest transfer update on the West Ham Way Patreon, Ex shared Moyes’ thinking going into this month.

“Jesse Lingard remains a top target for David Moyes, I have always maintained this,” he wrote.

“However, whether we will firstly put in an offer that Man U consider acceptable and secondly whether we will be able to persuade Lingard to join are the key factors.”

Move on?

This one has dragged on for far too long now.

We only want players at the London Stadium who want to play for the club and be proud pulling on that shirt every single week for the Irons.

Given his success previously at the London Stadium during that loan spell, if Lingard wanted a permanent move, it would have happened by now.

The England international instead looks set to see out his big contract at Old Trafford and make a decision in the summer – that is too late.

Moyes must bring players in now to cement a push to those Champions League spots, and spending a month haggling for Lingard which will likely end in failure is just a waste of time.

It’s time to move on.
