ExWHUemployee issues update on West Ham United pursuit of Jonathan Tah after Harry Maguire news
ExWHUemployee has stated that Manchester United have rejected a bid for Harry Maguire and now West Ham may move for Jonathan Tah.
The reliable London Stadium source wrote on his Patreon [28 July] that a move for the Bayer Leverkusen defender, 27, who’s also a full Germany international, may be on the cards.
Manchester United turned down £20million for Maguire and his high wages and valuation mean another offer is unlikely to be made.

Ex wrote, “We can also confirm that reports of us making a £20m offer for Harry Maguire are also true. This has been swiftly rejected by Manchester United.
“As we have continuously said Maguire was Moyes’ first choice of centre back but it is unlikely with his wages and transfer fee whether we will get this deal done and could now move for other previously mentioned targets such as Jonathan Tah.”
Makes sense
Maguire may be a decent option but he’s 30 and has not played plenty of first-team football over the last 12 months.
He’s also on high wages and will have to accept a pay cut if he is to move to the London Stadium this summer.
Even with that, he’ll be among the top earners at West Ham so they cannot just pay whatever Manchester United are asking to sell him.

It remains to be seen if Tah can be convinced to join the Hammers and whether a deal can be struck with Bayer over his asking price.
Everyone is aware of the money made from Declan Rice’s sale so it’s going to be harder to sign players on the cheap this summer.
Tah would undoubtedly be an important signing and hopefully, they can get that one over the line sooner rather than later.
In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
