ExWHUemployee: Fulham unlikely to meet West Ham United valuation of Issa Diop

West Ham defender Issa Diop has been named on the teamsheet to face Boreham Wood in the pre-season friendly on Tuesday (12 July), as reported by ExWHUemployee.

Writing on his Patreon on 12 July, Ex wrote that Diop is “set to play” for today’s game, which leaves question mark on his future.

Diop has been linked with a move to Fulham this summer, but Ex reckons the Cottagers “must be still not meeting” the club’s appropriate valuation of around £20m for the player.

Interesting

The Daily Mail reported on 7 July that the Cottagers had put forward a bid of around £20m after their initial offer was turned down.

Reliable journalist Julien Laurens, who works for ESPN and elsewhere, wrote on his personal Twitter account on 9 July that only a few details are left to sort out for the transfer of the defender.

Thus it comes as a big surprise that David Moyes has included him in the pre-season friendly.

West Ham

Surely, if the defender is so close to leaving the club, Moyes wouldn’t have risked him in a friendly game, as he might pick an injury which could scupper the move.

However, that doesn’t mean that Diop won’t be sold this summer. The Hammers have bolstered their defence by adding Nayef Aguerd, and the French defender could be allowed to move on.

Diop has been at the London club since 2018 and has played over 120 games for the club.

Getting the money back for Diop would be a fantastic piece of business from the club, but it seems Fulham are yet to meet the valuation set by the Hammers.
