ExWHUemployee defends Declan Rice as West Ham United skipper rubbishes ‘nonsense’ allegation

West Ham skipper Declan Rice has rubbished allegations that he has already given up after the Hammers made a poor start after the World Cup break.

Rice, 23, has branded the allegation as “complete nonsense”, and ExWHUemployee has defended him by saying it’s “ridiculous” to blame the skipper who “massively cares” for the club.

The Hammers are badly struggling in the Premier League and Rice has come under some criticism. The midfielder reiterated his desire to play in the Champions League when he was away with the England squad, and many feel that his mind is somewhere else at the moment.

“Keep reading little comments like these that first – are funny and second – complete nonsense. I would never ever give up, for the fans or for the club. Of course times on a football pitch get tough! But especially as captain and wearing this shirt, I know exactly what it means to play for West Ham,” replied Rice to a comment from a fan on Instagram, as shared by West Ham Online.

Ex wrote on Twitter (3 January): “It’s ridiculous. You can tell from his performances he still massively cares and if you speak to anyone who knows him. He is as disappointed as we all are this season. Of course when things are bad you look for a scapegoat but this is really the wrong one.”

Ridiculous

This is a ridiculous allegation that makes no sense at all.

Rice has been a club hero and he has always played with pride and passion every time he took the pitch.

There is a high chance that he could leave the club in the summer window, but he really cares for the club.

Every player goes through ups and downs, and Rice probably is going through just a temporary dip in form.

West Ham

David Moyes knows that if the Hammers really need to get back into the top half of the table and push for a top six or seven, the club need Rice to deliver.

It’s been a really disappointing season for the Hammers, and it feels like Moyes is running out of ideas to turn it around.

The Hammers face Leeds United next and it will be a very tough game. They have to win this tie and get some confidence back in the side.

Nayef Aguerd is expected to make his Premier League debut for the Hammers, but it’s Rice who the club will look up to for moments of inspiration.
