ExWHUemployee: David Moyes really likes Aston Villa star John McGinn, eyes marquee signing this summer

ExWHUemployee has reported that West Ham United are eyeing up the marquee signing of Aston Villa star John McGinn in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The reliable source has insisted that David Moyes “really, really likes” the Scotland international and what he could bring to the table at the London Stadium.

Numerous clubs are said to be interested in McGinn, but it could be hard to complete a deal with him being a regular starter at Aston Villa under Steven Gerrard.

Speaking on the latest edition of the West Ham Way Podcast, Ex shared the update that will likely leave many fans very happy in east London.

“McGinn of Aston Villa,” he said.

“Scottish international, Moyes really, really likes him, really likes him and wants him to be a marquee signing in midfield although there is a number of other clubs that are interested in signing him as well.”

Get it done.

This would be an incredible signing.

McGinn being added alongside Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek in midfield would make that a three-man partnership that nobody would want to face.

The power that the Scotland international has is phenomenal, and he would add many goals bursting into the final third with that protection of Rice behind him.

Soucek struggled to score as many goals as he did in his previous seasons at the last attempt, and having that burden eased should see him flourish too.

This is another Kalvin Phillips situation, though.

Teams with big aspirations in the Premier League such as Aston Villa and Leeds aren’t just going to sell their best players, so it would likely take another huge bid to get it done.

It would likely take £50million or more to sign McGinn, but if Moyes is that desperate and has singled out his fellow countrymen, the money would be there to spend.

This is one to watch very closely.
