ExWHUEmployee claims Hammers set to sign Pierre Ekwah-Elimby
The reliable insider source ExWHUemployee has claimed West Ham are closing in on signing midfielder Pierre Ekwah-Elimby from Chelsea.
In his West Ham Way Patreon podcast, he said that there were initial clashes over the cost of the player, but it is now understood that the two parties have reached an agreement and Elimby will be on his way to the London Stadium this summer.
It’s believed that the deal will be completed “in the next few days”, making the 19-year-old West Ham’s first signing of the window.
Discussing this transfer, ExWHUemployee said, “Pierre Ekwah-Elimby who had been on trial at West Ham from Chelsea, is hoping to secure a move to the club in the next few days.
“It was claimed that he could be lured to the London Stadium, but the cost of the deal may have been a problem.
“It looks like the two clubs have reached an agreement and he is due to sign in the next few days.”
First of many
This has to be the window where we’re relentless in the pursuit of our desired targets. Often in the past, we’ve pursued players until the end only to not sign them because of being priced out or other financial reasons.
In the case of Elimby too, the player was on trial, impressed the coaches, and was deemed a perfect fit for West Ham. It’s really important that we got this deal over the line and now we can look at getting in some first-team signings as soon as possible.
While ExWHUEmployee has not mentioned a transfer fee, RMC Sport journalist Loic Tanzi reported on Thursday that it is around £1.2m.
Chelsea have inserted a large sell-on clause as they expect the player to develop leaps and bounds and want to profit off his sale when West Ham part ways with him.
Chelsea have made a loss in the player’s sale as he joined for £1.8m [ExWHUEmployee] and the Hammers were unwilling to match the Blues’ asking value of the player.
Eventually, the East London side got their way, but as the Blues did not get what they wanted, they’re hoping to profit significantly from his sale in the future.
