West Ham have tabled a second bid for Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai that appears to meet the club’s valuation, according to SPOR journalist Omer Celikbasli.
The Turkey-based reporter exclusively told West Ham Zone, that the offer appears to be in the region of £12.7million which is what Fenerbahce are looking for.
They are willing to let go of the 24-year-old left-sided centre-back this summer should their valuation be met.
Celikbasli said, “West Ham made an offer of 9 million euros [£7.6million] to Fenerbahce in the past weeks.
“Fenerbahce did not accept this offer. Fenerbahce wants at least 15 million euros [£12.7million].
“West Ham’s second offer is around the number Fenerbahce wants.”
Make it happen?
The Hungary international would be a vital addition to this Hammers squad and they must look to discuss personal terms with him as soon as possible.
He is a player who can play comfortably in a back four as well as a back three – giving David Moyes plenty of options should West Ham sign him.
When Nayef Aguerd returns, he could play a 3-4-3 or even a 3-5-2 with both Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca leading the line.
It’s an exciting prospect and one we fancy more than Thilo Kehrer – although the PSG defender appears to be the priority as things stand.
Either of the two will be vital additions to the squad and it’s good to see the club competing on multiple fronts and having backups for every position.
They appear to have learnt their mistakes from the past and hopefully, they get a defender and midfielder over the line as soon as possible.
