‘Exactly what we need’ – These West Ham fans urge club to swoop for reported PL target

West Ham are keen on Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley, and have already had a loan move rejected for the player, according to ExWHUemployee.

A report from the Mirror suggests that David Moyes is keen to be reunited with ex-Everton man this month, and the reliable Hammers’ source has suggested that there is truth behind the speculation.

The 26-year-old has struggled for game time so far this term, making just seven appearances for Frank Lampard’s men in the Premier League.

But it would appear that the Irons have hit a stumbling block in their pursuit, with the Blues knocking back their initial attempt at taking the playmaker to East London.

But many supporters are very keen for the club to keep on trying.

Aside from Declan Rice and Mark Noble, the Hammers are desperately short on realistic first team options in the centre of the park.

While some may view Barkley as a more attacking option than either of those two, there’s no reason to believe that he couldn’t adapt his game into a more measured, defensive role.

So far this term he has 1.5 tackles to his name per 90 minutes, while his pass completion rate is in excess of 87%, as per Whoscored.

By comparison, Noble only has 1.7 tackles per 90 minutes, but his pass completion rate is just under 83%, as per Whoscored.

Factor in the added running power and attacking threat that Barkley would offer, and this could be a great move, if the Hammers could land it.

And these Irons definitely agree…
