Ex-West Ham United players interested in fresh vacancy amid timeline reveal – ExWHUEmployee

West Ham United are set to appoint a replacement for Mark Warburton in the coming weeks, with a couple of former players expressing their interest in the vacant role, according to ExWHUEmployee.

The former Rangers boss revealed (15 June) he left his assistant coaching role at the London Stadium to pursue “new opportunities at a more senior level”.

Warburton joined David Moyes’ staff 12 months ago and helped steer the club to Europa Conference League silverware, their first trophy since 1980.

As shared via his Patreon account, ExWHUEmployee said: “As we reported at the time, he was quite rushed into the role after a failed takeover of Birmingham City failed to materialise involving David Sullivan and Warburton was meant to become their manager,” stated Ex.

“Warburton was offered the position to work with David Moyes as a result with Moyes’ approval but always had long-term ambitions to be a Manager or Assistant Manager elsewhere.

“It is expected that the club will appoint a replacement in coming weeks with a number of candidates showing interest, including a couple of former players.”

Blow

It always felt like a matter of time until Warburton decided to part ways with West Ham United.

The former Brentford, Nottingham Forest and QPR manager has amassed a glittering CV throughout his coaching career, and he is by no means done yet.

Although the Hammers struggled in the Premier League, finishing 14th with just 40 points, Warburton will be remembered fondly for helping the club win a historic trophy in the Europa Conference League.

The club will want to get a replacement in place before pre-season, so Moyes and the players can adapt to the inevitable new coaching style before the start of the Premier League season.

After the success of both Mark Noble and Kevin Nolan at the London Stadium, the arrival of further ex-players shouldn’t be frowned upon, however, it has to be the right candidate for the role.

Moyes will likely start his soundings for Warburton’s replacement in order to fill this vacant position as soon as possible.
