Erik ten Hag shares Luke Shaw update ahead of Manchester United FA Cup clash v West Ham United

Luke Shaw is now a doubt for Manchester United ahead of their FA Cup fixture against West Ham United on Wednesday, report Football London.

Football London claim (28 February) the England international, along with Fred, are now unlikely to feature against the Hammers after lifting the League Cup against Newcastle United on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag has also confirmed that Anthony Martial will also miss the fixture at Old Trafford with a hip issue.

West Ham United

“Anthony Martial is not available. Luke Shaw and Fred are questions for Wednesday,” said the United boss (quoted by Football London, 28 February).

Winning habit

There’s certainly a chance for West Ham to capitalise on Manchester United’s cup victory at the weekend. Their players will be coming off of a massive high and could struggle to motivate themselves for a cup fixture against David Moyes’ men. However, there’s no doubting the quality which lies within their squad.

It will be interesting to see what side Moyes picks for the trip to the North West. Clearly, the weekend’s trip to Brighton is a lot more important and should be prioritised. However, it’s been a long time since the Hammers enjoyed a profitable cup run.

West Ham

The win over Nottingham Forest simply has to be a springboard for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign. West Ham have teetered on the edge for far too long and now is the time for them to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three.

The Irons have their own injury concerns heading into Wednesday evening’s fixtures, with Vladimir Coufal and Lukasz Fabianski both injured, and Danny Ings cup-tied.
