Emmanuel Petit drops David Moyes ‘Revenge’ verdict after what West Ham did
Emmanuel Petit has suggested that David Moyes will be seeking revenge in his second spell at Everton due to the way he left West Ham.
The Scotsman was out of work after parting ways with the Hammers in the summer after they opted to sack him and appoint Julen Lopetegui in his place.
However, just days before Moyes’ return to Goodison Park was announced, the Irons were also in the market for a new boss as they appointed Graham Potter after Lopetegui struggled to get things going.
Therefore, Petit suggests that Moyes may have something to prove in his new role as he said live on talkSPORT (15 January, 6:29pm): “It’s like a divorce with someone and you choose to come back with this person so it’s like the story’s not finished or is it? I’m still wondering.
“So, I know he’s got quality and I know that the way he’s been fired from West Ham was not for me the best example to show for a manager because he won the European prize with them.
“But I think he’s got this feeling of revenge you know because I think the way he left West Ham wasn’t good enough so I think the fight that is coming back home that could be something good for him and for the fans and for the players.”
David Moyes will feel like he has something to prove with Everton after West Ham sacking
During the end of his spell with West Ham, supporters were frustrated with Moyes due to the fact his football was not the most attractive thing to watch.
However, Lopetegui was unable to come in and create positive change in terms of performances and also left the Irons further down the table than they would have hoped for.
With that in mind, you can understand the frustration from some over how the Scotsman was treated at the end of his spell at The London Stadium, especially given he brought a trophy to the club.

Therefore, with the 63-year-old now returning to Merseyside after 12 years away, he will surely feel as though he wants to prove that he can get a side that is really struggling initially safe before then taking them up the table to compete going forward.
The Irons find themselves in a better position now and will be looking forward to life under Potter with more optimism than they’ve felt in East London over the campaign so far but there will be some wondering what could have been had things stayed put at the end of last season.
