Emerson Palmieri claims West Ham can “do better” this season.
As posted on X by Football Daily (28 September), the full-back noted the variety of qualities within the Hammers squad, with the summer additions adding more “ideas” to the side.
West Ham have made a decent start to the season, finding themselves seventh in the Premier League thanks to impressive wins against Chelsea and Brighton.
Emerson said: ” [We have] a lot of players with other qualities. I think we have more things not to do on the pitch, more ideas with the new players.
“I think in our team, we can do better this season.”

West Ham enjoyed a glorious end to last season when they triumphed in the Europa Conference League final and to match that feat in the Europa League is of course a tall ask.
All of West Ham’s summer signings have hit the ground running, though, and they look an even better outfit this season despite Declan Rice’s departure.
Still, while a trophy could certainly be on the cards again this season, most likely through either domestic cups or the Europa League, a lack of silverware would not represent a failure of a season.
The Hammers got their latest European venture off to a winning start against Backa Topola and are expected to reach the knockout rounds of the competition. However, once the Champions League third-place sides drop down into the Europa League, the competition will become much tougher.
Emerson was most likely referring to the Irons’ domestic shortfalls last season. Their 14th-place finish flattered the Hammers, who ended the last campaign just six points above the drop. Crucial wins in the closing stages of the season against Leeds and Manchester United helped preserve their top-flight status, while the Conference League win papered over the cracks of their poor domestic form.
However, the situation is looking much brighter in Stratford now, and a much improved Premier League campaign is expected from David Moyes.
