Edson Alvarez names Bayern Munich in new West Ham United transfer admission
Edson Alvarez has admitted that he made a “beautiful transfer” to join West Ham United, but has named Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in a new admission.
The Mexican international joined the ranks at the London Stadium from Ajax this summer as David Moyes looked to rebuild his midfield having lost Declan Rice to Arsenal, with Alvarez partnering James Ward-Prowse in the early stages of the season.
However, the Hammers weren’t the only team interested in signing the 26-year-old this summer and Alvarez has spoken out about the interest he received from two Bundesliga giants while speaking highly of his time with West Ham so far.
As quoted by Florian Plettenberg on Monday (23 October) he said: “It was a very busy summer. In the last weeks (of the transfer window), I knew about the interest from FC Bayern. Everything can happen. I’m always open, but at the moment, I’m really enjoying my time at West Ham.
“I want to play and show the people my best qualities. But in the summer, you never know what‘s going on. I made the decision with West Ham after the option with Dortmund was down. But yes, everything was very, very close. So close.
“But I always think that certain things happen for a reason. Maybe it wasn’t the moment. But I am very happy at West Ham. I made a beautiful transfer.“
Beautiful
It’s clear that Alvarez is loving his time at the London Stadium so far and it’s safe to say he’s impressed fans and pundits alike as he has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water as he has formed an excellent partnership with Ward-Prowse.
West Ham’s position in the European footballing world has changed immensely in the past few seasons and now they are in a place where they can compete with the likes of Bayern and Dortmund for new signings and even beat them to player’s signatures.

While Alvarez admitted that he is always open and “everything can happen,” it doesn’t feel as though the Mexican is in any rush to make the next step in his career and he would much rather be playing week in and week out for the Hammers.
Moyes has ensured that he not only has an incredibly talented squad at the London Stadium, but his team are also incredibly hungry for success and that is one of the most impressive aspects of the Hammers’ recruitment. Every single addition they have made to the side has improved them both off and on the field.
