Don Hutchison claims Liverpool should spend £200m on West Ham United ace Declan Rice plus Jude Bellingham

Don Hutchison believes that Liverpool should go out and spend £200million on midfielders with West Ham ace Declan Rice key to it all.

The Hammers captain has 18 months left on his current deal at the London Stadium but would still command a fee worth nine figures at this stage.

Hutchison, a pundit for BT Sport, doesn’t think all of that money should go on Rice, however, with the 23-year-old’s England midfield partner Jude Bellingham the other part of the deal at Borussia Dortmund.

“It will never happen but I’d spend £200million on Bellingham and Rice,” Hutchison said via his personal Twitter account when asked how many midfielders Liverpool would need.

Get out of town

Nothing that Liverpool have done in the transfer market over the past several years has suggested that they could get away with spending £200million on two players without a significant clearout at Anfield.

Their current owners do not want to throw money at the problem without first creating it from the club itself as to keep them sustainable for the future.

That plays right into West Ham United’s hands, though, as they can easily ask for £120million for Rice if they wanted to in the summer and that would leave the Reds almost certainly priced out.

West Ham

They may even abandon the project entirely and just focus on Bellingham, given he is still a teenager, which automatically rules one club out of the race.

Rice’s end at the London Stadium does seem likely to come sooner rather than later right now but unless Liverpool are taken over by a filthy-rich person and/or company who will spend like there’s no tomorrow, he won’t be Merseyside-bound.

As it stands, elsewhere in London may well be the most likely destination for him although Manchester can never be ruled out whether it be the blue side or the red.
