Don Hutchison heaps praise on ‘hard-working’ top four contenders West Ham

PL pundit and former West Ham midfielder Don Hutchison believes that the big thing that’s changed for West Ham this season is that they’re not carrying any ‘passengers’.

West Ham will take another step in the right direction if they manage to pick up maximum points against Newcastle on Saturday.

David Moyes has turned around the fortunes of the side this season as the Hammers find themselves sitting in fourth place.

When asked his verdict on Premier League Productions PL Weekend Warm-Up, Hutchison said, “They’ve been so, so good this season, and David Moyes deserves all the credit for it.

“I think one thing that’s changed about them this season is that they’re not carrying any passengers off the ball.

“For years West Ham have had someone they had to carry – Felipe Anderson, [Dimitri] Payet, [Andriy] Yarmolenko, and the likes, and now they don’t.”

Moyes’ hard workers

Hutchinson is spot on about our players working so hard off the ball, and it’s no surprise that our results have been so good this season.

Regardless of play who plays out wide, they’ve made a point to track back and help out in defence.

The likes of Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen, and Michail Antonio too, have been our first line of defence.

They have pressed the opposition defenders and midfielders really well and have kept getting better with each passing game.

A top-four challenge felt like a dream at the start of the season and we’re now only a handful of wins from achieving that feat.

With Leicester struggling to recapture their best form due to injuries and Chelsea fighting on other fronts as well, we are unlikely to get a better chance to qualify for the Champions League.

We know it’s going to be a tough ask but is impressive that Moyes hasn’t shied away from it, and he’s expected to play up our top-four credentials behind closed doors.
