Doctor shares if Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips to fail medical as West Ham United transfer news emerges
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Ham...
Signing Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is a risky move from West Ham due to his lack of game time, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that despite that, it is not expected to cause him any issues with passing his medical check-ups ahead of officially joining the Hammers.
Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth reported on 25 January that the 28-year-old was currently undergoing his medical at Rush Green.
Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said: “Considering how little he has played, it’s certainly riskier in terms of fitness and match rhythm.
“That being said, I have heard numerous positive things about his professionalism and off-pitch habits so those concerns may be tempered.
“Clubs will undoubtedly assess his medical history before making a decision.
“He has been making the matchday squad regularly so there shouldn’t be any issues with him passing his medical.“
Phillips’ move from Leeds United to Manchester City has certainly not panned out and Pep Guardiola has admitted himself that he’s failed to get the best out of the midfielder.
The Englishman, this season, has surprisingly played more minutes in the Champions League (127) than the Premier League (89).

He will be hoping that he can get his right back on track at West Ham and seal his spot in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad.
