Divin Mubama sends message to Patrick Kelly after ‘really important’ West Ham United development

West Ham striker Divin Mubama has sent a message to Patrick Kelly after the latter signed a new contract at the club.

As per the official West Ham website (11 January), the Northern Ireland Under-21 international has signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 19-year-old, who plays for the club’s Under-21 side, has committed his future to the Hammers until the summer of 2026.

Taking to social media to celebrate the new deal, Kelly posted on Instagram (11 January): “Delighted to sign a new deal at West Ham, another step in the journey.”

And among those sending messages to the teenager was fellow 19-year-old Mubama, who has made 10 appearances for the first team this season.

It really is fantastic news for Kelly to have signed a new deal at the East London club, with the youngster telling the official West Ham website (11 December) that the contract is a “really important one to achieve.”

First-team man Mubama was just one of a number of players to congratulate Kelly on the extension, with the duo certainly in close contact at East London, having played together for the Under-21s.

Despite being the same age, the former is already an established senior player, with Mubama proving his ability under David Moyes on a handful of occasions.

And that should serve as great motivation for the latter, with Kelly undoubtedly keen to break into the first team sooner rather than later.

The club clearly feel that such a step is possible due to the new deal, with the youngster perhaps close to making his debut under Moyes, particularly given how the Hammers are competing in various competitions.
