Di Marzio reveals West Ham United stance amid meetings with Roma for Gianluca Scamacca
West Ham reportedly held meetings with Roma to discuss the potential exit of striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio [16 June], the Hammers clearly told the Serie A club that they will not be letting the Italian leave on loan.
It’s now up to the 24-year-old’s agent to break down the wall and convince the Hammers to allow him to leave the club.
Good decision
There’s no way West Ham should consider letting Scamacca leave this summer, on a permanent basis or even on loan.
According to Sky Sports, they paid £35.5million for him and thus far, he’s yet to prove to David Moyes or the fans that he’s worth the outlay.
However, that does happen a lot with players moving to the Premier League from the Serie A as the style of football is remarkably different.
Scamacca’s also not been lucky with his injuries and hopefully, if he stays on, next season can be the one where he thrives.
If he does want to leave, the Hammers should look to make a decent profit from his sale and must not consider a loan move under any circumstances.
It’s understood that Roma’s chief was in London on Thursday, 15 June, and it remains to be seen how long he stays trying to convince the Hammers.
