Dharmesh Sheth: West Ham United Gianluca Scammaca talks centre around fee and structure

West Ham United are yet to table an official bid for Gianluca Scammaca but are in talks over the “fee and structure” of a deal for the 23-year-old striker according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

It had been reported by 90min on 22 June that the Irons were interested in the Sassuolo striker and it appears that the Hammers have firmed up their interest in Scamacca.

Sheth revealed on Tuesday 12 July (via Twitter) that PSG are also interested in the striker, although they are unwilling to pay the £42.2million asking price.

Make the move

This would be a huge statement of intent from West Ham if they managed to pull off a deal to sign Scamacca.

The Italy international scored 16 goals in Serie A in the 2021/22 campaign and has been of interest to some of Europe’s top clubs.

Scamacca would be the ideal competition for Michail Antonio in the Hammers front line and would almost certainly give David Moyes’ side a real threat up front.

West Ham have been linked with Armando Broja but a move for Scamacca would be an upgrade on the Chelsea striker.

Scamacca has proven himself in one of Europe’s top leagues and has also been given international opportunities for Italy.

Whether West Ham get a deal done remains to be seen with big-spending PSG likely to provide stiff competition for his signature.

For once let’s hope the Hammers actually get a deal over the line for a marquee striker.

It’s time for the Hammers striker problems to be eased.
