Dharmesh Sheth reports West Ham continue to wait for Sassuolo response after £34m bid for Gianluca Scamacca

West Ham are waiting for a response from Sassuolo after tabling a bid for striker Gianluca Scamacca, according to Sky Sports Journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

The Hammers are in the market to sign players to strengthen the attacking department ahead of the next campaign.

Sheth, in a tweet from his account on Monday, July 18, stated that despite the Irons edging closer to signing Chelsea forward Armando Broja, they are still waiting to hear from the Serie A club after offering £34m plus add-ons for the Italy forward.

Prolific Striker

There is no doubt that finding a striker is a big talking point for West Ham in the ongoing transfer window.

They have addressed their defensive issues to a large extent by the signing of Nayef Aguerd. Moreover, there are no strong rumours about Declan Rice leaving the club.

However, Michael Antonio’s fitness remained a concern as last season showed that cannot play every week because.

Scamacca enjoyed a fantastic time in front of the goal in the Serie A 2021-22 season where he managed to score scoring 16 goals. He won 1.4 aerial duels per game, had a pass completion rate of 74% and had a rating of 6.82, according to Whoscored.

Those numbers show why Moyes is still pursuing a move for him despite edging closer to completing the signing of Chelsea forward Broja as he can be a starter ahead of someone like Antonio and with age on his side, he can also improve in the seasons to come.
