Dharmesh Sheth: ‘History’ will help David Moyes keep West Ham United job

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth believes David Moyes’ “history” at West Ham will help him stay on as manager despite poor form.

West Ham picked up a vital three points over the weekend, with Gianluca Scamacca and Jarrod Bowen scoring to help the Hammers to a 2-0 win over Wolves.

It helped to relieve the pressure around Moyes after a poor start to the Premier League season, but Sheth believes the Scotsman’s previous results at West Ham meant the board never considered a dismissal in the first place.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Sheth said: “Look, I don’t run football clubs, and we’ve seen funnier things happen when you don’t expect managers to lose their jobs, and they do.

“But it just feels a little bit different at West Ham United given the history of David Moyes at that club.”

A new leaf

With West Ham returning from the international break to pick up a huge win over Wolves, it seems like the perfect time for the team to turn over a new leaf.

With the poor start to the season behind them, the squad can now kick on and start to climb the table under Moyes.

The new signings at the club are slowly but surely settling in, with Scamacca in particular now having a huge part to play for the side. The Italian striker is yet to lose when starting a game for the club, and it seems he’s finally earned enough of Moyes’ trust to be handed regular Premier League starts.

Thilo Kehrer is another who has impressed this weekend, with his cameo at right-back catching the eye of Hammers fans. His new role allows Craig Dawson to return to centre-back and the 32-year-old put on a typically brilliant display.

Furthermore, a handful of out-of-form players such as Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen enjoyed far better performances against Wolves than they have throughout the rest of the season. Filling them with confidence will no doubt help the team’s performance in general.

With Fulham and Southampton up next, there’s no reason that the Hammers shouldn’t be targeting three consecutive league wins this month.
