Dharmesh Sheth explains West Ham United boss David Moyes’ situation

West Ham have made a poor start to the season, but David Moyes is under no pressure to lose his job.

The Hammers are 18th in the league table at the moment, but Sky Sports journalist, Dharmesh Sheth has suggested that Moyes finds himself in a slightly different position.

Taking into consideration, how he transformed this team, the Hammers board trusts Moyes to turn it around.

West Ham

“Football management, you can say until your blue in the face that you have credit in the bank etc. but results will be king, of course,” said Sheth to Give Me Sport.

“I still think that the Moyes situation is slightly different to potentially any other manager in the Premier League simply because of what happened before. Because he was brought in before a few seasons ago with the sole aim of keeping West Ham United in the Premier League.

“And at the end of that, I think he was almost expecting well, ‘let’s try and build something here because I’ve kept you in the league, let’s see if we can build something here’, and West Ham decided to go another way. And then, when it didn’t work going the other way, they came back to David Moyes.”

Full trust

When Moyes was first appointed, it was on a short-term deal. The club was fighting relegation back in 2017.

He has completely transformed the side, and in the previous two seasons, the club competed for a top-four finish.

Naturally, he has earned that right to rebuild the squad this squad.

The Hammers board spent a lot of money on signing new players this summer. Moyes has added quality players in almost every position, and it’s a new look team.

There will be teething problems for the new players, and West Ham fans will have to be patient.

Having said that, it’s a result-oriented job, and at the end of the day, the Hammers board will consider making changes at some point if the results do not improve.

Moyes needs time to integrate these players into the team, and once he finds the right balance, the results are bound to come.

This is a big season for the Hammers. If they fail to challenge for the top four, probably they will lose some key players like Declan Rice or Jarrod Bowen.
