Dewsbury-Hall to West Ham mooted on talkSPORT, Darren Bent shocked

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall would be a good signing for West Ham, according to Darren Bent.

Reacting to news that the Irons are considering a deal to sign Dewsbury-Hall on loan from Chelsea [Sky Sports], Bent dubbed the Englishman as a “good footballer”.

The pundit, though, likened it to the East London club’s signing of James Ward-Prowse last season, admitting he is “shocked” the transfer has not worked out.

“When they got Ward-Prowse, I always thought it was a good signing, I was shocked it didn’t work out”, Bent said on talkSPORT (15 January, 5:52 pm).

“I think it’d be a good signing, Dewsbury-Hall, good footballer, just not getting minutes at all at Chelsea.”

Graham Potter to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at West Ham

Chelsea forked out £30million to sign Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester in the summer after he bagged 12 goals and 14 assists in the Championship last season [BBC].

However, the midfielder has found playing hard to come by at Stamford Bridge, having been restricted to just 55 minutes of Premier League action so far.

Therefore, a temporary move could be on the cards for the 26-year-old before the winter transfer window closes on 3 February.

With West Ham interested in signing him, Potter may use his Chelsea connections to negotiate a loan deal for Dewsbury-Hall.

Potter has not worked with the Englishman directly, but might have good contacts at Stamford Bridge, having served as the Blues manager between September 2022 and April 2023.

It would not be a surprise if the Hammers prioritised loan deals this month after spending over £100m on new signings in the summer.

That is why a deal for Dewsbury-Hall makes perfect sense for the East London outfit.

In other West Ham news, the Irons are considering including a £30m buy obligation in a loan deal for this striker.
