Devoted West Ham United fan makes 9000-miles round trip to Ghana to see Mohammed Kudus

A devoted West Ham United fan travelled to Ghana to watch new signing Mohammed Kudus play for his national side in an AFCON qualifier.

Speaking with GhanaWeb (7 September), the Irons enthusiast, Ian, revealed he made the over 9000-mile round trip to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi just to watch Kudus.

The 23-year-old scored an equalising free kick just before halftime against the Central African Republic before the Black Stars went on to score a late winner through Lyon forward Ernest Nuamah.

Ian told GhanaWeb: “I am here to watch Mohammed Kudus, our new signing. He is very skilful and strong. We love him.

“West Ham are massive everywhere we go”, Ian added. “I have come all the way from the UK to watch Mohammed Kudus and the Black Stars!”

To travel over 4612 miles to watch a player who has, so far, played no more than five minutes of football for your club is true dedication.

Ian was treated to a good game at the Baba Yara Stadium and got to see Kudus get a goal in the flesh. His equalising free kick came at the perfect time for the Black Stars – just minutes before halftime to help lift the spirits of the side.

On paper, Ghana should be beating the Central African Republic, with the likes of Premier League stars Jordan Ayew and Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams and, of course, Kudus himself.

They got the win in the end to cement their spot at the top of Group E in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

However, he is already feeling the love from the Hammers supporters, epitomised by Ian. If Kudus can keep up his national form when he returns to Stratford, then West Ham could look even more dangerous than they have this season.
