Deeney calls West Ham star ‘absolute monster’ after Newcastle scenes

Troy Deeney has hailed West Ham ace Max Kilman as an “absolute monster” after his performance against Newcastle.

The two sides faced off in the Premier League on Monday evening and the Hammers managed to come away from St James’ Park with all three points after an unexpected 2-0 win.

Writing for BBC Sport (26 November), Deeney also had two other Hammers men in his team.

“He [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] obviously got his goal but he was excellent defensively against Newcastle. He did brilliantly to shut down Anthony Gordon and there are really good signs of the guy that was signed for such big money from Crystal Palace all those years ago,” he wrote.

“He [Kilman] is growing week by week. An absolute monster.

“Holding midfielder, he [Tomas Soucek] got the goal at Newcastle with a really good header. You could see this happening. It was miles better by West Ham.”

Max Kilman has been one of the best transfers of the season for West Ham

In the summer, many changes were made to the Hammers’ squad with Julen Lopetegui sanctioning a massive overhaul of the team.

While some arrivals such as Kilman have been well received by fans, others such as Nicolas Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme haven’t quite been up to scratch.

Their win against Newcastle was fairly unexpected with rumours even flying around about the Spaniard’s future before the game took place.

Plenty of the Hammers’ results haven’t gone their way this term, and they still remain a decent distance away from the European places they desired to finish in at the start of the campaign.

The win against Newcastle will have no doubt bought Lopetegui some time and for now, it seems like he’s safe but if he goes back to losing ways after the victory against the Magpies, it’ll likely be curtains for the former Real Madrid man before too long.

Nothing is yet set in stone regarding his future of course but at the moment, the Spaniard is hanging onto his job by a thread.

In other West Ham news, Emerson produced a “perfect” moment to help his side to victory.
