Declan Rice will not be moving to Newcastle from West Ham
West Ham star Declan Rice will not leave West Ham for a move to Newcastle United, according to Toby Cudworth.
The 90min reporter claimed on his Twitter account that the 22-year-old has no interest in joining the Toon because money is not his major motivation.
He then adds that Rice is happy at the London Stadium and is just focusing on the rest of the season with the Hammers.
Rio Ferdinand suggested earlier in the week that Newcastle should make a move for Rice after their takeover making them the richest club in the world went through [Vibe with Five].
However, it seems as if the England international has no intention of swapping east London for Tyneside any time soon, which is totally fair enough.
To put it into context, the Irons are in the Europa League and finished sixth last season; the last time the Toon finished in the top six was during the 2011/12 season.
So, it is not as if they have been competing at the top of the league, and it is good to hear that Rice is happy with the Hammers and fully committed to the rest of the season.
This update should allay any fears that Ferdinand’s comments could have caused, but it doesn’t appear as if the Irons have to worry about Newcastle taking Rice to St James’ Park any time soon.
