Declan Rice set to reject new West Ham contract offers amid £100m frustration

Declan Rice is set to reject new contract offers from West Ham after growing disillusioned with the club’s valuation of him, according to The Times.

The newspaper claims the 22-year-old midfielder is “frustrated” after the Irons effectively priced him out of a transfer this summer.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in the England international but £100million is the figure that has been quoted by West Ham.

Irons exit on the cards?

There are no fears that Rice is set to depart east London imminently, but if this report is to be believed then West Ham face an almighty battle to persuade him that his future lies at the London Stadium beyond the end of the current season.

His contract runs until 2024 while the club has the option to extend that for a further year so we are not in a rush to sell him soon to claim maximum value.

But if his unhappiness with the club is true, then he or his representatives may well start putting plans in place to force his exit next summer.

West Ham fans won’t begrudge him a big move in the next few years, but if he demands to leave and a summer saga ensues then that could cause great consternation among the Hammers faithful.

We’ve already seen this summer how fans react to players’ trying to alter their price tag.

Harry Kane’s reputation among Spurs supporters has taken a downturn as he tries to force a move to Manchester City.

Let’s hope we can avoid a similar scenario with Rice.
