Declan Rice sends message to Andriy Yarmolenko after England vs Ukraine clash

West Ham United ace Declan Rice played a key role as England secured a comfortable 4-0 win over Ukraine in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.

The 22-year-old was in fine form as the Three Lions dominated proceedings from start to finish on Saturday, nullifying the opponents’ threat in the middle of the park.

Rice’s West Ham teammate Andriy Yarmolenko was at the receiving end of the drubbing, unable to inspire his side this time around.

The Hammers midfielder met with the winger after the game, taking to his personal Instagram account to send this message to him.

A different Yarmolenko

The Ukrainian’s European Championship campaign might have ended on a disappointing note, but we were taken aback with his performances.

The 31-year-old started just one Premier League game last term, coming off the bench 15 times.

He assisted just once, scoring thrice across six games in the League Cup and FA Cup.

West Ham fans saw a different Yarmolenko at the Euros, with two goals and two assists to his name in five games for his country.

We are sure manager David Moyes would have been left impressed with what he witnessed too, and hopefully the winger can feature more next season.

He clearly has it in him, and it is up to him to prove himself at the London Stadium after last term’s disappointing campaign.

Yarmolenko has just a year left on his current deal, but should he replicate his Euro 2020 display at West Ham next season, he is surely going to get a new contract.
