Declan Rice reacts as Jesse Lingard returns to Manchester United training

England international attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard is training with Manchester United amid links with West Ham United.

The Hammers want the 28-year-old back at the London Stadium after his impressive loan stint in the second half of last season.

However, West Ham cannot afford the proposed £30million fee the Red Devils want for Lingard this summer [The Athletic].

The attacker has taken to his personal Instagram account to upload a picture of him in training with Man Utd, and Declan Rice has sent this message to him.

West Ham chances over?

We do not see the Irons paying £30million for a 28-year-old with just 12 months left on his contract, and they are likely to baulk at £25million too.

Lingard proved himself within five months last term, and the Old Trafford outfit believes he is worth that much.

The player himself would love to be valued high as it does his self-esteem some good, and we could miss out should Man Utd refuse to lower their demands.

Rice surely would love to have such an influential player back after he played a massive role in guiding West Ham to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League table last season.

Manager David Moyes definitely wants Lingard back, but both clubs are not likely to reach an agreement.

The England international could be open to staying at Old Trafford and fighting for his place having boosted his reputation with the West Ham loan, and the chance to play in the Champions League and challenge for the title next season definitely appeals.

Lingard’s chances of playing at the World Cup next summer would depend on how he performs next season, and we reckon there is a greater probability of him making manager Gareth Southgate squad playing for the Hammers as opposed to remaining with Man Utd.

The presence of Bruno Fernandes and the arrival of Jadon Sancho could make things tougher for him, and he needs to make the right decisions this summer for the sake of his career.
