Declan Rice reacts after Craig Dawson confirms West Ham United exit

Declan Rice has sent a brilliant message to Craig Dawson after he left West Ham United to join Wolves in the January transfer window.

The Hammers confirmed the departure of Dawson on 22 January. The centre-back took to Twitter to pen down an emotional message saying he has got only love and respect for the club.

Rice, the club skipper, wrote that Dawson will be missed, adding that they shared “unbelievable” memories together in the past two years.

“Daws. It’s been an absolute pleasure, had some unbelievable memories in the past 2 years together. Going to miss you mate, wishing you and the family all the best,” wrote Rice on Twitter.

Replacement?

Dawson was a terrific player for the club, and he deserves respect for his contributions.

Last season, when the Hammers lost both Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna through injuries, Dawson played a massive role and covered the void.

He was linked with a move away from the club during the summer, and Moyes didn’t want to let him go. In fact, given a choice, he would have kept him for the rest of the season as well.

West Ham

Dawson wanted to stay close to his family and therefore he decided to move to Wolves, as he has a house in the Midlands.

It remains to be seen whether West Ham sign any new defender in the winter market.

The Hammers have already bolstered their forward department, by signing Danny Ings who joined from Aston Villa in January. Ideally, Moyes should look to add one more defender to replenish his void. But he has got loads of options as well.

In the summer, he will require a new centre-back as Ogbonna may leave as a free agent too.
