Declan Rice among eight West Ham United players absent in training ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash

Declan Rice is among eight players who have missed the training for West Ham on Wednesday (15 February) ahead of their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur, according to Football London.

Of the 23-man senior squad, just 15 were shown in training. Six of the remaining players are known absentees, but the other two are also missing.

Midfield duo Rice and Pablo Fornals were not shown training with the main group. Rice picked up a virus last week and played through it in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

Key players missing

The Hammers have shown signs of improvement in recent games, and they need to pick up a win after two draws in a row.

It won’t be easy against Spurs away from home, and David Moyes could be missing a host of key players for this game.

Aaron Cresswell missed the previous game against Chelsea. Emerson came in his place, and he did score the equalizer.

In defence, the Hammers are still missing Kurt Zouma, and it’s not clear when the Frenchman will return. Nayef Aguerd also picked up a groin injury. If he misses out, Angelo Ogbonna could be brought into the side.

The Hammers are also sweating on the fitness of Lucas Paqueta. The Brazilian midfielder, 25, has picked up a shoulder injury against the Blues, and it is likely that he will miss the London derby clash.

However, let’s hope that Rice can shake off his illness and get back to training in the next few days. Losing him for the next game will be a massive blow.
