Dean Windass: West Ham nailed on to sign Danny Ings

Dean Windass has insisted that West Ham United are nailed on to sign Southampton striker Danny Ings this summer.

The Saints talisman has reportedly rejected a new contract at St Mary’s, and numerous clubs are lining up for his signature.

Windass believes that Ings would be perfect at the London Stadium, with the Europa League a big drawing point.

Speaking to This is Futbol, Windass dropped the major transfer claim on the future of one of the Premier League’s best.

With Tottenham also interested, the former Hull man suggested that move is very unlikely to happen over the summer.

“I don’t think he will go to Tottenham, but I think he’s nailed on for West Ham. Antonio is still there, but you’ve got to have cover,” he said.

“I think that David Moyes knows that he won’t want to wait another year, he’s got European football now, so I think that Danny Ings would be a great fit for West Ham.”

Snap him up.

David Moyes would surely love to bring Ings in this summer, and he would solve a major problem at the London Stadium.

Michail Antonio will be looking for more consistency in terms of injury problems, but there is no guarantee for that given his track record.

With more games added to the calendar, we need more options desperately, and Ings would likely even start ahead of Antonio.

Having two options who can both hit double figures with ease would make us serious contenders for those European spots yet again, and that has to be the goal.

With Ings supposedly pushing for an exit, it would be cheaper than expected, and GSB have to put their money where their mouths are.

Ings would be a major statement of intent, and although unlikely, we hope it is as nailed on as Windass suggests.
