Dean Jones shares ‘most bizarre’ verdict on Maxwel Cornet after ‘extremely disappointing’ West Ham United snub
It is “extremely disappointing” that Maxwel Cornet did not leave West Ham in the summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.
The 27-year-old, who joined the Hammers from Burnley in August 2022, has made 28 appearances for the club so far.
He has been limited to just seven appearances in all competitions this season, with David Moyes handing him just over 100 minutes of action.

“It’s one of the most bizarre Premier League storylines really at the moment,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT (17 December). “The guy does not get a look in.
“I don’t know what’s happened but I’m quite looking forward to him leaving so we can find out his version of events and how this has actually unravelled. He doesn’t fit in, he asked to leave West Ham.
“And I just hope that they manage to find a way to make it happen this time around because it should have happened in the summer. Extremely disappointing for all parties. But the bottom line is we need to find out why this has gone so wrong.”

Time to go
Cornet arrived at the London Stadium with plenty of excitement, having shone in England with Burnley. But he has so far failed to live up to expectation, with the winger yet to score from his 28 appearances for the East London club.
From the same number of appearances for the Clarets, Cornet managed to hit the back of the net nine times, with those goals earning him a switch to West Ham.
But for whatever reason, Moyes has simply not given the attacker any real time to shine this season, even with the club competing in various competitions.
It certainly is a strange situation, with the manager needing all the help he can get as the club look to compete in the Premier League, League Cup and Europa League, with the FA Cup kicking off next month.
Given the severe lack of game time, a January transfer from the London Stadium is seemingly the best move for all parties.
In other West Ham news, Daniel Sturridge and Roy Keane were in agreement over an incident in the match against Wolves, with a “WWE” verdict shared.
