David Sullivan to personally host West Ham United talks with Divin Mubama, £30,000-a-week deal on the cards

West Ham United chief David Sullivan will personally meet with academy star Divin Mubama to thrash out terms on a new contract at the London Stadium, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers journalists report (8 November), that Sullivan will be hoping to deploy the same tactics he used to get Jarrod Bowen to sign new terms by meeting personally with Mubama and offer around £30,000 a week.

The Athletic journalist, Roshane Thomas shared on his personal Twitter account on Monday 30 October that the young striker has rejected a contract extension at the London Stadium but the Hammers were continuing discussions to get him to commit.

However, Sullivan is now believed to be stepping in to get Mubama to sign a new contract, and it is believed he could be loaned out next season.

Sullivan saves the day

West Ham United losing yet another academy product and a talented one at that, would have been absolutely catastrophic.

The 19-year-old is highly-regarded within the East Londoners and amongst fans given his rampant performances with the youth setup in recent seasons, scoring 13 goals in 20 Premier League 2 games last season [Transfermarkt] and even bagging a goal for the first-team during their Europa Conference League triumphant run.

And he could well have joined the likes of Amara Nallo, Divine Mukasa, Armstrong Oxoflex and Sonny Perkins in controversially leaving the East Londoners after the club’s lack of decisiveness in contract talks.

It certainly seems as if Sullivan has come to save the day yet again at the London Stadium and it is obviously the right decision for him to get involved given the qualities Mubama holds in his talented weaponry.

Losing him could well have seen West Ham United throw millions away, especially when they are trying to unearth the next Declan Rice at the club. What kind of message will the club have sent out had Mubama been allowed to leave?

Excellent work by Sullivan.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have already moved to secure a new midfield transfer.
