David Sullivan ‘to interfere’ as Dan Ashworth tipped for West Ham role
David Sullivan is predicted to interfere as Dan Ashworth has been tipped to join West Ham United.
The renowned sporting director was recently relieved of his duties at Manchester United after just a few months at Old Trafford.
Tim Steidten was sacked as the Hammers’ technical director recently, with Kyle Macauley seemingly taking control of the transfers.
The new Head of Recruitment has been working alongside Graham Potter for several years now, and Ashworth was with them during their time at Brighton.
Dan Ashworth could join West Ham United
Ashworth could potentially turn up at the Irons as he may return to a Premier League outfit, Graeme Bailey says.
The TBR Football journalist has predicted that the former Man United sporting director will soon return to a top job in the English top flight.
While the East London club could be one of Ashworth’s possible destinations, Bailey feels it’s unlikely since David Sullivan would not give him the freedom to operate.
Speaking to Hammers News, the journalist said: “Ashworth is going to turn up at a Premier League club at some point, so it could be West Ham.
“But I don’t see it, to be honest, under the current regime. Would Sullivan and others at the top allow Ashworth to work without interference, which he would demand? I am not convinced, to be honest.”

Dan Ashworth the perfect appointment at London Stadium
Ashworth would arguably be the perfect appointment at the Hammers as they look to get over this season’s disappointment.
While Steidten was initially lauded for his work in the summer after signing Max Kilman, Jean Clair-Todibo and Niclas Fullkrug, the opinion around him quickly turned sour.
The former technical director evidently made the wrong call with some of the new recruits, with the German striker being arguably the biggest disappointment.
Fullkrug has barely played for the Irons in the current campaign and is currently rehabilitating from an injury in Dubai.
Julen Lopetegui had a tenure to forget at the London Stadium and was replaced by Potter, who has had a mixed start himself.
The English manager clearly needed a new striker, and Evan Ferguson was signed by the East London club on loan on Deadline Day.
As things stand, the Hammers’ current squad evidently requires a makeover, and there likely couldn’t be a better person than Ashworth out there for the job.
