David Sullivan takes hands-on role in new Tim Steidten sack update at West Ham
West Ham owner David Sullivan is taking a hands-on approach as Tim Steidten’s future hangs in the balance, according to the Daily Mirror.
The report in the newspaper’s print edition (page 59, 22 January) claims that Sullivan is working closely with new manager Graham Potter in the winter transfer window.
It states that the German’s negotiating skills as technical director are in question after the club spent £123 million in the summer, which has left the new boss with a limited budget.
The report claims that the future of the former Bayer Leverkusen man depends on his relationship with the former Chelsea manager.
Tim Steidten West Ham future in the balance
The fact that the East London club have sidelined their technical director in the middle of the transfer window is a damning indictment of Steidten’s performance since joining the Hammers.
Steidten has clashed with David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui in the past, so it would not be out of the question that he struggles to get on with Potter.

That could have a negative effect on Steidten and limit his remit further than it already has been by Sullivan.
The chaos behind the scenes has only hampered the club’s transfer plans as they are yet to sign an attacker after Niclas Fullkrug was ruled out for three months.
It needs to be sorted soon, whether that is Steidten packing his bags or returning in a blaze of glory, remains to be seen.
