David Sullivan and Karren Brady to review David Moyes position at West Ham United

David Sullivan and Karren Brady will review David Moyes’ position as manager at West Ham United near the end of the season, according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reported on Thursday (7 December) that the Hammers majority stakeholder and vice-chair respectively will consider the Scotsman’s future near the end of the current campaign and the conclusion of his current contract.

Currently, the West Ham board are happy with the progress made under the 60-year-old’s management as he has managed to lead the Irons into European competitions for three consecutive seasons, including the Europa Conference League win.

It remains unlikely that the Hammers will part ways with Moyes before the end of his current contract as they have only sacked two managers during a season in the last 13 years, Slaven Bilic and Manuel Pellegrini.

Safe for now

There are few managers in the Premier League that seem to have as much speculation surrounding their future as David Moyes, which seems bizarre when you consider that the Scotsman has done an excellent job on the whole since returning to East London.

Under Moyes’ management, there has been consistent progress at the London Stadium and while they had a bit of a wobble of form before the November international break, they have managed to remain a competitive force both in Europe and the Premier League.

This season, the Hammers have once again punched above their weight which is even more impressive considering they lost arguably their best player when Declan Rice joined Arsenal during the summer.

There will always be a portion of the supporters that believe a younger, more progressive manager would get more out of the attacking talent in West Ham’s ranks, but while things are going well it seems far too risky to make that change midway through a campaign.

When the season comes closer to its end, Sullivan and Brady will be able to make a much more measured decision over Moyes’ future and if they do opt to make a change, the new manager will have a whole pre-season to add to his squad an implement their brand of football.
