David Ornstein: West Ham star will ‘resist’ attempts to be sold in January
It is hard to remember the last time West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere completed a full season without injury.
Yes, players suffer from injuries and setbacks, but Wilshere appears to spend more time in the medical room than on the pitch.
With David Moyes coming back into the fold, the 28-year-old could have an opportunity to cement a spot in the side at the London Stadium.
The Athletic journalist, David Ornstein has recently commented on the future of Wilshere and his chances of a fresh start under Moyes.
“There is also hope that it will prove to be a fresh start at the London Stadium for midfielder Jack Wilshere,” he wrote in his Monday column.
“Wilshere has yet to join the main group for a session with Moyes and, when he does, it will be a vital opportunity to impress both West Ham and potential suitors, with 18 months left on a three-year contract. It is understood he would resist any attempts to be sold this month.”
Wilshere has failed to complete 90 minutes in the Premier League this season and has only featured six times – so hopes of securing a prominent role in the Hammers side seem slim.
The 28-year-old has also been very poor in those outings, failing to register a single key pass or shot on goal from midfield [WhoScored] – something that Robert Snodgrass is providing on a weekly basis for the Irons.
Wilshere may resist an exit, but should a good offer be placed on the table for a bit-part player at this moment, West Ham would surely have to consider it.
