David Moyes suggests if Declan Rice fit to play in Sevilla v West Ham

David Moyes is hopeful that Declan Rice will be fit to play when West Ham travel to Andalusia to face Sevilla in the Europa League on Thursday.

Rice missed the clash against Liverpool at Anfield with an illness, but it was not covid related.

The Hammers lost 1-0 on Saturday (5 March), where David Moyes’s side didn’t particularly feel the absence of Rice.

West Ham

Moyes said about Rice, as quoted by Football London: “I don’t think anybody watching would have noticed they don’t have Rice today, (Tomas) Soucek had one of his better games.”

When specifically asked if Rice would play against Sevilla, the Hammers boss replied: “I would hope so.”

Huge game

With West Ham already out of the FA Cup, while their top-four hopes hanging in balance, they must do well in the Europa League.

The Hammers were outstanding in the group stages, but the knock-out rounds pose different challenges.

Sevilla have wealth of experience in this competition, but the Hammers can beat any side on their day. They just need to believe in their abilities.

West Ham

The Hammers will have to be solid at the back and keep the game as tight as possible. If they can get an away goal, it is even better.

Rice has been outstanding this season for the club, and Moyes will hope to get him back in such a huge game.

The Hammers, meanwhile, are sweating on the fitness of Jarrod Bowen, who seemed to have picked up an Achilles injury during the clash against Liverpool.
