David Moyes shares what Harry Kane loved from West Ham United ace Jarrod Bowen in England v Serbia

David Moyes has shared what Harry Kane would have loved from West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen as soon as he entered the pitch during England’s Euro 2024 opener against Serbia on Sunday (16 June).

The Hammers forward came off the bench for Bukayo Saka in the second half of the Group C clash and he made a brilliant impact not long after entering the fray.

His sheer pace dazzled Serbia wing-back Filip Mladenovic and allowed Bowen to beat his opponent and ping a cross into the box for Kane, who was thwarted by a fine save from Predrag Rajkovic.

Speaking on talkSPORT (17 June) Moyes said of Bowen’s cameo: “I was thrilled when he came on, when he picked up that first ball up he ran at the full-back, went in the outside, and look you played up front all your life Gabby you’ll be knowing you’re going to get balls delivered in the box.

“I’m sure Harry Kane probably thought at that moment ‘brilliant’ somebody’s put a cross in for me and given me the opportunity to get on the end of one.”

What Jarrod Bowen could bring to the England squad

Aside from Jude Bellingham’s goal, and prior to Bowen coming on, it felt as if England weren’t at their best attacking-wise even though they did dominate large periods of the first half.

In fact, as per One Football, England had fewer shots than Serbia managed with Gareth Southgate’s men registering five whilst Serbia had six.

Despite being on the pitch for just under 20 minutes, Bowen managed to achieve a rating of 7/10 from both Sky Sports and the Metro.

And, whilst Southgate was always going to deploy Saka and Phil Foden on the wings, his cameo appearance could’ve got him in with a chance to start the next game.

And, if he continues to play as well as he is, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see clubs from across the world making a move for the 27-year-old.

It feels as if West Ham know this too as the London-based club have been continuously linked with a move for Juventus man, Matias Soule this summer.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have reportedly tabled a £33m+ bid for an Atletico Madrid player.
