David Moyes shares new West Ham contract update ahead of Man United clash
David Moyes has shared an update about his contract at West Ham United, admitting that the Irons will pick up talks around his future in “the next few weeks”.
The Scotsman, who has been at the London Stadium for his second spell since 2019, has a contract with the Hammers until the end of the season, and despite suggestions a new deal was close, no agreement is yet in place.
Some reports have suggested that those in charge behind the scenes at West Ham are keen to wait until the end of the season to discuss Moyes’ position, but the Irons boss insists a verdict on his future could come sooner than that.
As quoted by the Daily Mail on Saturday (3 February) he said: “We’ll get back on it now the transfer window is shut. We’re well down the line and moving on with it.
“We’ll pick that up again in the next few weeks.”
West Ham should wait on David Moyes talks
A few weeks ago, it would have seemed like a no-brainer to give Moyes a new deal, as over the festive period the Hammers couldn’t stop winning, with huge results against the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham bringing a feel-good feel to East London.
However, the last few weeks have seen a more questionable run of form, with points dropped in games that the Irons should be expected to win and a disappointing FA Cup exit to Bristol City after two mediocre performances.

Moyes’ overall form during his time in East London is more than deserving of a new deal and if contracts were handed out for performances in the last three or four years, a contract extension would be a complete no-brainer.
But this recent run of form and the poor performances that have accompanied these results are surely making those in charge at West Ham United consider their alternative options heading towards the business end of the campaign.
