David Moyes shares latest injury update ahead of West Ham v Brentford

West Ham United will face Brentford in the Premier League clash on Sunday at the London Stadium.

Ahead of the match, the Hammers boss has delivered the latest injury update on two players – Vladimir Coufal and Ryan Fredericks.

The Hammers boss is hopeful that right-back Coufal will be fit to play against Brentford on Sunday.

The Czech Republic defender missed the match against Rapid Vienna on Thursday evening with a groin injury. Moyes has suggested that the 29-year-old has a chance to make the squad.

Fredericks, 28, picked up an injury at Old Trafford against Manchester United eight days ago. It seems he is on the verge of recovery, but the game may have come too soon for him.

“I think Coufal has a chance,” Moyes said, as quoted by Football.London.

“I am not sure about Ryan Fredericks. Neither are bad and not too far away so there is a chance they could both be available. Hopefully, they will both be okay.”

Apart from the two, Moyes has no other injury issues as his rotation policy to keep players fresh appears to be taking good effect.

High Hopes on Johnson

In the absence of both Coufal and Fredericks, Moyes gave a start to young talent Ben Johnson in the Europa League clash against Vienna. It was his first exposure to Europan football.

The 21-year-old right-back had a heart in the mouth moment when the referee originally awarded a penalty against the youngster. Apart from that, he duly impressed and could get another chance on Sunday.

Johnson is a fantastic young defender and he has prior experience in the Premier League as well.

The youngster has made eight starts in the Premier League and has over 50 appearances in total for the Hammers.

West Ham have made a solid start in the Premier League this season, sitting seventh in the table, only three points behind leaders Liverpool.
