David Moyes says next transfer window vital for West Ham

David Moyes has suggested that the next transfer window is absolutely vital for West Ham and for him personally.

The Hammers failed to sign a single player in the January transfer window, and it’s been really frustrating.

The club desperately needed to add a striker and a defender in January, but despite making several attempts they failed to land one.

Moyes said, as quoted by Claret and Hugh: “We want to build on it. We want to make it better. We’ve grown really quickly, really fast in two years.

“The next bit is to get another good layer of foundations in so we can try to build for, not just the next six months, the next year, but we can try to get another layer of foundations in which gives us a chance to be successful for the next two or three years going forward.

“That’s where I’m seeing it. The next transfer window would be important for me to get that next layer of foundations down for it. The club have been very good.”

Big summer

Moyes is absolutely spot on here. This is indeed going to be a big summer for the club, irrespective of where they finish at the end of the season.

Only two seasons ago, the Hammers were fighting for survival.

Moyes has brought stability at the club and they have made giants progress. They came close to securing a top-four spot, and they are doing really well, on the grand scale of things, so far.

Some of the players they have reportedly targeted in January also indicate what type of players he is looking to bring in. Also, it is clear that the present board is willing to give him funds if the right player is available.

Moyes has taken the club to a new height but to break into the top four and consistently challenge the likes of Liverpool or Manchester City, the squad needs an upgrade as well.
