David Moyes sack prediction shared by Darren Bent live on talkSPORT amid West Ham United struggles

Darren Bent says David Moyes “needs to be” kept on at West Ham until the end of the season in order to save the club from relegation.

The Hammers are out of the relegation zone only on goal difference following their 5-1 defeat by Newcastle on Wednesday (5 April).

West Ham are in real danger of the drop in what has been a miserable league campaign, but former Premier League striker Bent believes Moyes should remain in the dugout.

“Is he there until the end of the season, to try and stop them from the drop?” Andy Goldstein asked Bent live on talkSPORT.

“I think he needs to be,” Bent replied.

Moyes’s position in the West Ham dugout has long been under scrutiny, but the pressure on the manager has understandably grown this week following the thrashing by Newcastle.

It’s important to remember that the Magpies are going very strong under Eddie Howe and currently sit third place in the Premier League, but the Hammers really let themselves down in their recent clash, which was made even worse because it was in front of their own fans.

Several soft goals were conceded on the night, with many fans undoubtedly pointing the finger at the manager, when perhaps it is the players who should be held accountable on this occasion.

Moyes will continue to feel the heat even if they take something from Fulham on Saturday (8 April), with the West Ham boardroom expected to take inspiration from the clubs around them and sack the manager before the season draws to a close.

Former Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers looks an exciting potential candidate following his recent sacking by the Foxes, but it remains to be seen whether he would want to take on a club that are in a very similar position to his former side.
