David Moyes reveals West Ham transfer strategy after Rob Newman appointment
Last week West Ham confirmed the appointment of Rob Newman as the club’s head of recruitment.
David Moyes is extremely happy with Newman’s appointment and he hopes that it will help the club in finding quality players in the transfer market.
Newman spent more than a decade in the role of International Scouting and Recruitment Manager at Manchester City, and his experience should be invaluable for the Hammers.

Moyes has admitted that he would like a change of approach in transfer strategy following the 57-year-old’s arrival at the club.
The West Ham boss has admitted that he wants to bring in more young British players to the club.
“I’d like to have a bigger West Ham presence around the streets of London but probably around the whole country as well because I want us to be looking for young British talented players, as well as the work we need to do overseas,” Moyes said, as quoted by football.london.
“I want young players to come here and think there is an opportunity for them and a good environment,” the manager added. “They can get well-coached, I think that at West Ham we’ve got great potential all over London.
“We’ve got to make sure we’re doing our homework close to home because we do a lot in France and other countries but we want to make sure we get the best of British players if we can, whether that be young players or in the lower leagues. I’d like to know that we at least know about them and are looking at them.”

Excellent business so far
Since Moyes was appointed, he has done an excellent job while recruiting new players. It’s been a huge success.
In January 2020, he signed the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek and Darren Randolph. Both Bowen and Soucek have proved to be quality additions to the club.
In the summer of 2020, Moyes further added Vladimir Coufal, Craig Dawson and Said Benrahma to the squad, and all of them are now first-team regulars.
In the January window, the Hammers signed Jesse Lingard on loan who turned out to be a masterstroke signing.
In the recent window, the likes of Alphonse Areola, Alex Kral, Nikola Vlasic, and Kurt Zouma have arrived at the club.
Now, Moyes is looking to bring in more young British talents. The Hammers already have a good coaching facility, and it will be interesting to see if they can bring in young talents from lower leagues (similar to Dele Alli) through proper scouting.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are on a scouting mission for this 22-year-old breakout La Liga star with a ‘very attractive’ release clause.
