David Moyes responds to question on West Ham United future after Europa League exit
David Moyes says he has no update about his West Ham United future despite his contract expiration getting nearer.
The Hammers now have to focus on the Premier League as they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday (18 April), resulting in a 3-1 aggregate defeat in their Europa League quarter-final.
It has led to renewed speculation about Moyes’ future at the club, with the Hammers boss out of contract in the summer and uncertainty over whether he will renew.
Asked for an update on his contract, in quotes reported by the Mirror (21 April), he said: “I have nothing to announce. I am happy. We are just getting on with the job and playing games. We have five left to play, we will get on with it. I said there was no real big rush to do anything and I still feel that way.”
Should West Ham United let David Moyes go?
There has been a lot of conversation among West Ham fans that they may like to see a change of manager in the dugout ahead of the new season.
This is all to do with style of play as fans want to see a more exciting brand of football compared to that of Moyes.
What you can’t argue with is that his football has delivered results for the Hammers. A Europa League semi-final and a Conference League triumph are excellent achievements and there was no shame in losing to Leverkusen in Europe this time around.

Considering he took over a relegation-threatened side, he has done a fine job to get a tune out of his players and made some shrewd signings.
With all that being said, losing him could prove to be costly. This is especially true if the right manager isn’t brought in as his successor.
Il Messaggero has reported that Mauricio Sarri is an option that is being considered. He doesn’t bring any guarantees like Moyes does.
The grass isn’t always greener and sometimes effective football is better than good-looking football when you’re getting results.
