David Moyes raves about Youssef En-Nesyri amid West Ham United transfer speculation

David Moyes has been waxing lyrical about Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri with West Ham linked with a January move for the Moroccan.

The 25-year-old is among the favourites to leave the La Liga club in the January transfer window with the Hammers hotly tipped to be in the race for his signature when the time comes.

West Ham did try to sign him in the summer but Sevilla were not keen on letting him leave after a sensational 2021-22 season in the Spanish top flight.

Writing in a column for The Times, Irons manager Moyes could not stop the love-in for the Moroccan international after he helped them to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

“In Youssef En-Nesyri they (Morocco) have a centre forward who is an incredible good runner and gives them an outlet,” he said as he previewed all eight teams left in the competition

Waste no time

There has never been a better World Cup for players to put themselves in the shop window and En-Nesyri has taken full advantage of that in leading the African side into the last eight.

They have repeatedly overcome the odds to make it this far having topped a group with Belgium and Croatia in it and then toppled 2010 world champions Spain on penalties in the round of 16.

At 25 years of age, he is also the perfect age for a big move to the Premier League having proven himself in Spain and West Ham United’s problems in attack mean the London Stadium could be the perfect fit.

If the club do pursue a deal, En-Nesyri may well be swayed by Moyes’ willingness to publicly praise him this much when he was under no obligation to do so.

The Hammers boss will be nudging Nayef Aguerd to be the main hype man for the club as the international teammates continue to defy the odds in Qatar.
